Weak point

A deliberately designed section in a drilling or logging string that is intended to fail at a predetermined tensile load. This feature allows for controlled separation of the string in case of a stuck pipe or other downhole issues, enabling recovery of the upper portion of the string. Weak points are often incorporated into fishing tools or specialized subs.
