J slot

A mechanical feature incorporated into downhole tools, consisting of a J-shaped groove that guides a pin or lug to lock or unlock components through axial and rotational movement. This design allows for selective engagement or disengagement of tools by manipulating the tubing string from the surface. It is a common mechanism in packers, circulating subs, and shifting tools.
