Fishing neck

A specifically designed profile or shoulder on a downhole tool or component that allows a fishing tool to latch onto it for retrieval. This feature provides a secure point of attachment for overshots or spears if the tool becomes stuck or lost in the wellbore. It is a standard design element for many retrievable tools.
