An abbreviation for inflow control valve, a downhole device installed as part of a well completion to manage the flow of fluids from the reservoir into the production tubing. ICVs are used to balance production along the length of a horizontal well or to shut off zones that are producing unwanted water or gas. These valves are adjusted remotely from the surface using hydraulic or electrical control lines, without requiring well intervention.
