Leakoff
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002141
The penetration of drilling fluid into a permeable formation or a fracture within the wellbore, leading to a reduction in the volume of fluid circulating back to the surface. This phenomenon is often measured during a leakoff test to determine the maximum pressure a formation can withstand before fracturing. The leakoff pressure is a key parameter for well design and drilling operations.
