Perforation penetration
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002744
The depth to which a shaped charge jet extends beyond the inner wall of the casing, through the cement, and into the reservoir formation. Deeper penetration generally provides better communication with the reservoir and bypasses near-wellbore damage. Penetration depth is measured in inches and varies with charge design and formation properties.
