Bullet perforating
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000488
An older method of creating communication paths between the wellbore and the reservoir by firing steel bullets through the casing and into the formation. This technique uses a gun containing explosive charges that propel projectiles. Bullet perforating has largely been replaced by shaped charge perforating due to its limited penetration depth and potential for casing damage.
