Scintillation detector
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003274
A device used in nuclear logging tools to detect gamma rays or neutrons by converting their energy into light pulses. These pulses are then converted into electrical signals by a photomultiplier tube, allowing for the measurement of radiation intensity. Common scintillation materials include sodium iodide (NaI) for gamma ray detection and lithium iodide for neutron detection.
