Listric fault
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002187
A type of normal fault with a curved fault plane that flattens with depth, becoming nearly horizontal in its lower sections. These faults are common in extensional tectonic settings, such as rift basins and passive margins. They often sole out into a detachment surface and can create rollover anticlines that serve as hydrocarbon traps.
