Liquid-junction potential
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002186
An electrical potential difference that develops at the interface between two electrolyte solutions of different concentrations or compositions, such as between drilling mud filtrate and formation water. This potential can affect the readings of spontaneous potential (SP) logs. It is a factor considered in the quantitative interpretation of SP curves.
