Classical reservoir modeling
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000684
An approach to reservoir simulation that relies on analytical or semi-analytical methods rather than detailed numerical grids. This technique uses simplified representations of the reservoir geometry and fluid flow physics to make rapid predictions about well performance and recovery. Classical methods include material balance calculations, decline curve analysis, and coning correlations, which are still applied for initial screening and history matching.
