Inverse
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002027
A mathematical technique used to determine the properties of a subsurface formation from observed measurements. This involves working backward from the measured data to infer the underlying physical parameters that caused those measurements. Unlike forward modeling, which predicts measurements from a model, inverse methods derive the model from the measurements.
