Isotropy
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002058
The property of a material exhibiting uniform physical characteristics in all directions. In the context of rock mechanics and seismic exploration, a rock with isotropy would have consistent elastic moduli and wave velocities regardless of the measurement orientation. This is an idealized condition, as most rocks show some degree of anisotropy.
