Hydrofluoric-hydrochloric acid

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001908

A mixture of hydrofluoric acid (HF) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) used in matrix acidizing treatments, primarily for sandstone formations. The hydrofluoric acid dissolves silicate minerals, while the hydrochloric acid prevents the precipitation of reaction products. This acid blend is highly corrosive and requires specialized handling and safety protocols.
