Fluoboric acid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001515
A strong inorganic acid, HBF4, used in well stimulation treatments, particularly for sandstone formations. It is effective in dissolving clay minerals and other siliceous materials that can cause formation damage. Fluoboric acid is often preferred over hydrofluoric acid due to its slower reaction rate and reduced tendency to precipitate reaction products.
