Hydrofluoric acid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001907
A highly corrosive acid used in sandstone acidizing treatments to dissolve silicate minerals like clays and feldspars. It reacts with these minerals to create larger flow paths, improving the permeability of the reservoir rock. Due to its hazardous nature, it is often used in combination with hydrochloric acid as an HF/HCl blend.
