Hydrochloric acid, a strong mineral acid used in oil and gas operations for matrix acidizing and fracture acidizing treatments. It dissolves carbonate rocks, such as limestone and dolomite, to enlarge pore throats and improve permeability near the wellbore. Concentrations typically range from 5% to 28% by weight.
