Perforating acid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002737
An acid solution, usually hydrochloric acid (HCl), injected into a wellbore immediately before, during, or after perforating a carbonate formation. The acid reacts with the carbonate rock to dissolve formation damage near the wellbore and clean the perforation tunnels of crushed rock and debris. Common concentrations for hydrochloric acid in these treatments range from 7.5% to 15% by weight.
