Acetic acid

A carboxylic acid with the chemical formula CH3COOH, present in the atmosphere as a volatile organic compound. It is emitted from both natural sources, such as vegetation and microbial activity, and anthropogenic sources like biomass burning and industrial emissions. Acetic acid contributes to the acidity of precipitation and atmospheric aerosols.
