Alkynes

A class of unsaturated hydrocarbons characterized by the presence of at least one carbon-carbon triple bond. In the atmosphere, they are emitted from both natural sources, such as vegetation, and anthropogenic sources, including industrial processes and combustion. Ethyne (acetylene) is the simplest alkyne and is a minor component of atmospheric volatile organic compounds.
