Alkylperoxy radicals
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003437
Highly reactive chemical species formed in the atmosphere through the oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the presence of nitrogen oxides and sunlight. These radicals contain an alkyl group bonded to a peroxy group (ROO•). They are intermediates in the formation of tropospheric ozone and other secondary air pollutants, contributing to photochemical smog.
