Aromatic hydrocarbons

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003634

A class of organic compounds containing one or more benzene rings, which are characterized by delocalized pi electrons. In the atmosphere, these compounds are often emitted from combustion processes and industrial activities, contributing to air pollution. They can undergo photochemical reactions to form secondary pollutants like ozone and fine particulate matter.
