Ketones
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006772
A class of organic compounds containing a carbonyl functional group (C=O) bonded to two carbon atoms. In atmospheric chemistry, certain ketones, such as acetone, are volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can be emitted from natural sources or anthropogenic activities. They participate in photochemical reactions in the troposphere, contributing to ozone formation and other atmospheric processes.
