Epoxide
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005406
A cyclic ether with a three-membered ring containing one oxygen atom and two carbon atoms. In atmospheric chemistry, epoxides can be formed as intermediate products during the oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particularly from biogenic emissions like isoprene. These compounds can contribute to secondary organic aerosol formation and influence air quality.
