Epoch

A specific point in time used as a reference for astronomical or geodetic calculations, or a distinct period in geological or climatological history. In climate science, an epoch can refer to a long interval characterized by particular climatic conditions. For example, the Holocene epoch represents the current geological epoch, beginning approximately 11,700 years ago.
