Glacial period

A colder interval within a glacial epoch characterized by the expansion of glaciers and ice sheets across continents. These periods are separated by warmer interglacial periods, during which ice sheets retreat. The Earth has experienced numerous glacial periods throughout its geological history, driven by orbital variations and atmospheric composition changes.
