Glacial rebound
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005977
The slow, upward movement of the Earth's crust in regions that were once depressed by the immense weight of overlying glaciers and ice sheets. As the ice melts, the underlying mantle material slowly flows back into the space previously occupied by the displaced crust. This process, also known as post-glacial rebound, continues for thousands of years after deglaciation.
