Glacial maximum

A period within a glacial epoch when global ice volume and the extent of glaciers and ice sheets reached their greatest extent. During a glacial maximum, global sea levels are significantly lower due to the vast amount of water locked up in ice. The Last Glacial Maximum occurred approximately 26,500 to 19,000 years ago.
