Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006887

The most recent period of extensive glacial expansion on Earth, often referred to as the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), which occurred approximately 26,500 to 19,000 years ago. During this time, large ice sheets covered much of North America, Europe, and Asia, leading to significantly lower global sea levels and colder climates. This period ended with the onset of the current interglacial epoch, the Holocene.
