Precipitation polycondensation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009352

A polycondensation reaction where the polymer formed is insoluble in the reaction medium and precipitates out as it is produced. This process allows for the continuous removal of the polymer from the reaction mixture, which can drive the equilibrium towards higher molecular weight products. The reaction is typically carried out in a solvent that dissolves the monomers but not the resulting polymer.
