Continuous precipitation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002501
The formation of a new solid phase from a supersaturated solid solution where the composition of both the matrix and the precipitate changes gradually and continuously. This process occurs throughout the bulk of the parent phase without the advancement of a distinct reaction front. Continuous precipitation is contrasted with discontinuous precipitation, where a lamellar structure of new phases grows from grain boundaries.
