Intraphase transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006018
A phase transition that starts in the interior of a parent phase rather than at its boundaries, for example when a new phase begins to grow at twin planes or dislocations inside a grain, as in some steels. It contrasts with an interphase transition, which starts at the boundary between two phases, such as a grain boundary.
