Immediate-type hypersensitivity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005617

A rapid and exaggerated immune response that occurs within minutes of exposure to an allergen, mediated primarily by IgE antibodies. Upon re-exposure, the allergen binds to IgE on mast cells and basophils, triggering the release of inflammatory mediators like histamine. This can lead to symptoms ranging from mild allergic reactions to severe anaphylactic shock.
