  "definition": "A blood test, a refined form of the lymphocyte transformation test, in which a patient's lymphocytes are cultured with a suspected allergen such as nickel and the proliferation of allergen-specific memory T cells is measured, classically by tritiated thymidine uptake. It serves to detect delayed type IV hypersensitivity to metals and other chemicals. Reactivity is reported as a stimulation index, the ratio of proliferation with allergen to proliferation without it.",
