Effect

A change in the biochemistry, structure, physiology, growth or lifespan of an organism caused by exposure to an agent, in particular one that impairs functional capacity or the ability to cope with additional stress. In toxicology it is distinguished from response, which is the proportion of a population showing a stated effect at a given dose.
