Low-pressure mercury lamp

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006794

A gas discharge lamp that emits ultraviolet radiation, primarily at 253.7 nm and 184.9 nm, from excited mercury atoms. It operates at a low vapor pressure of mercury, typically below 100 Pa, within a quartz envelope. These lamps are widely used for germicidal applications, photochemical reactions, and as calibration sources in spectroscopy.
