Quartz-iodine lamp
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009769
A type of incandescent lamp that uses a tungsten filament enclosed in a compact quartz envelope filled with an inert gas and a small amount of iodine or other halogen. The halogen cycle regenerates the tungsten filament, preventing blackening of the bulb and extending lamp life. These lamps produce a high-intensity white light, often used in spectroscopy and photography.
