Quartz atomizer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009768
A heated tube of quartz in which volatile species such as hydrides are converted into free atoms for atomic absorption or fluorescence measurement. It atomizes elements that form volatile compounds at relatively low temperatures, about 1000 degrees Celsius or below, and it is heated electrically or by a flame. It is the standard atomizer in hydride generation methods for arsenic, selenium and antimony.
