Electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003662

An analytical instrument that measures minute mass changes at an electrode surface by monitoring the resonant frequency of a quartz crystal oscillator. When a substance is deposited or adsorbed onto the crystal's surface, its mass increases, causing a measurable decrease in the resonant frequency. This technique is often used to study electrodeposition, corrosion, and adsorption phenomena.
