Electrochemical cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003654
A system consisting of two electrodes immersed in an electrolyte, where chemical energy is converted into electrical energy (galvanic cell) or vice versa (electrolytic cell). It involves redox reactions occurring at the electrode surfaces, driving electron flow through an external circuit. The potential difference between the electrodes is measured in volts.
