Electrolytic cell

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003692

An electrochemical cell that uses electrical energy to drive a non-spontaneous redox reaction, converting electrical energy into chemical energy. It consists of two electrodes immersed in an electrolyte, connected to an external power source. The anode is where oxidation occurs, and the cathode is where reduction occurs.
