Corrosion cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002609
An electrochemical cell formed when two dissimilar metals or different areas of the same metal are in electrical contact and exposed to an electrolyte. This setup drives an electrochemical reaction where one metal acts as an anode and corrodes, while the other acts as a cathode. The potential difference between the anode and cathode drives the corrosion process.
