Photoelectrolytic cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008859
A type of photoelectrochemical cell where light energy is used to drive a non-spontaneous chemical reaction, such as the electrolysis of water. The cell typically consists of a semiconductor photoelectrode and a counter electrode immersed in an electrolyte. It converts light energy directly into chemical energy stored in the reaction products.
