Scintillation counter

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010580

An instrument that detects and measures ionizing radiation by converting the energy of the radiation into light flashes. It consists of a scintillator material coupled to a photomultiplier tube, which converts the light into an electrical signal. These devices are widely used for detecting alpha, beta, and gamma radiation.
