Scintillation spectrometer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010583

An instrument that measures the energy distribution of incident radiation by detecting the light flashes, or scintillations, produced in a scintillator material. A photomultiplier tube converts these light pulses into electrical pulses whose amplitudes are proportional to the energy deposited by the radiation. The system includes a pulse amplitude analyzer to sort the pulses and generate an energy spectrum of the source.
