Proportional counter tube

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009553

A radiation detector that measures ionizing radiation by collecting the ions produced in a gas-filled tube. The output pulse height is proportional to the energy deposited by the incident radiation, allowing for energy discrimination. This device operates in a voltage range where secondary ionization occurs but before the Geiger-Müller region.
