Counter tube
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002634
A type of radiation detector, often a Geiger-Müller tube, designed to detect ionizing radiation by producing an electrical pulse for each detected particle or photon. It consists of a gas-filled tube with a central anode wire and a surrounding cathode. When radiation ionizes the gas, a cascade of electrons is generated, leading to a measurable current pulse.
