Photoelectrode

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008858

An electrode, typically made of a semiconductor material, that absorbs light and generates charge carriers to participate in an electrochemical reaction. Upon illumination, electrons and holes are created, which then migrate to the electrode surface to facilitate redox processes. These are key components in photoelectrochemical cells.
