Excimer lamp
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004175
A gas discharge lamp that produces incoherent ultraviolet or vacuum ultraviolet radiation through the formation and subsequent radiative decomposition of excimers. These lamps typically contain noble gases or mixtures of noble gases with halogens, which are excited by an electrical discharge. The emitted light is quasi-monochromatic, with a narrow spectral bandwidth, making them suitable for specific photochemical applications such as surface modification or water purification.
