Excimer-luminescence

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004177

The emission of light from an excimer, which is an excited dimer formed between two identical molecules, one of which is in an excited electronic state and the other in its ground state. This luminescence typically occurs at a longer wavelength and with a broader spectrum than the monomer emission. Excimer formation is a transient process that dissociates upon returning to the ground state.
